Who Is The MC in MCPR?

Matt Caldwell’s history and experience in the electronic music industry is a long and varied journey. With over fifteen years of experience of working just about every role in the business, his expertise at the helm of MCPR ensures that all clients have access to a wealth of knowledge and advice from a highly-experienced professional.

Starting out like most in the business, Matt’s journey started with a love of music that quickly developed into a curiosity into how it was made. Self taught to begin with, it wasn’t long before he was Producing which resulted in his tracks ending up cut to white label vinyls and sold in and around London in record stores. At the age of just 16, Matt found himself engrossed in the underground UK music scene and after garnering air-time on prominent stations such as BBC Radio, Kiss 100, Hot96, Rinse FM and many more – it was obvious that a career in the music business beckoned.

Into further education, Matt completed a National Diploma in Music Technology before going on to University to complete a degree in Digital Music. During these years he continued down the route of a Producer racking up plays on BBC Radio 1, 1xtra and many more whilst also frequenting the likes of Ministry of Sound London and Privilege Ibiza where he worked as a Promotions Manager for the iconic Brazilian party Warung.

Post-graduation Matt immediately delved into the world of PR and after short spells testing the waters of the industry, he launched MCPR in 2012. Starting off with just a drive for professional service in the industry it did not take long to build a thriving business that is now in the 2020s regarded as one of electronic music’s leading promotional agencies with an ever-growing team of PRs and other roles within the business becoming a part of the family. MCPR has now worked with just about every major electronic music label over the last decade and continues to operate at the forefront of the industry.

As a contributor and writer, Matt has contributed to the likes of international Mixmag’s, DJ Mag’s, DMC, Amnesia Ibiza and many more.

Matt was also invited to author the chapter on promotion for the best-selling ‘Dance Music Manual‘ – a book that sits in thousands of lecture halls and university classrooms around the world as well as countless Producers’ homes. Published by the world-renowned Focal Press division of Routledge/Taylor & Francis – the book is regarded as one of the gold standards of education for all things Dance Music.
